Like most people hobbling out of Peter Koopman’s bodyweight exercise classes for the first time, Zoe cursed the moment she ever learned about burpees. And yet, she kept coming back for the intensity of the workouts and the camaraderie of the athletes. A year later, when Be Fit Feel Free (B3F) offered cross-training classes, Zoe was hooked! Every session was a chance to strengthen her body, challenge her mental toughness and enjoy the energy of the community. These days she is no longer terrified of burpees and barbells, and even takes pleasure in the occasional box jump and handstand. Zoe received her Crossfit Level 1 Trainer Certificate in August 2017 and now volunteers for the Starters classes in gratitude for the positive changes that the coaches and athletes have sparked in her, and in the hope that other colleagues may discover the same benefits as she did.
