The COVID-19 situation continues to affect us all, and for the UNAIDS fitness association, it has meant stopping the organized fitness sessions, and at times even halting access to the facilities.

Due to  COVID-19 situation, an annual in-person meeting of the association was not possible to organize. Instead, online voting took place in November-December.  The views of the membership were asked on for different issues:

  1. Support for the current committee to carry on for an additional term;
  2. Support the UNAIDS Fitness Association to continue as a CrossFit Affiliation member;
  3. Approval of the financial report of the past year;
  4. Approval of the budget for the coming year.

Results:

Of the 89 members of the association (current UN staff using the gym in past 12 mths), 60 members responded and voted (67% response rate).

The membership-supported unanimously (60 respondents) the extension of the current committee to continue for an additional term. This is an attempt to secure the association continuing as fully operational, with minimal disruption until the special circumstances are over, and when the community can fully resume to its routine functioning.

2.

Clear majority of the voters (76%) support UNAIDS Fitness Association to continue as a CrossFit affiliate. This was asked due to the annual subscription cost as well as the varied publicity around CrossFit organization in the past year.

All 60 respondents voted for the approval of the financial report.

Nearly all (97%) of the respondents voted for the approval of the budget for the coming year.

In summary, the membership majority has expressed clearly its support on all four issues. The committee is grateful to the members of the association on their trust, engagement and support, and respects the wish of the membership in all its actions and way forward.
