This year the CrossFit Games had, due to COVID (dang this thing pops up everywhere!!!) a new format.
There were 2 stages. During stage one of the 2020 (Sept 18-19) Reebok CrossFit Games, 60 athletes — 30 men and 30 women — competed in seven events across two days.
Which were pretty hard (as one can imagine).

After stage one, the top 5 of the women’s and men’s field moved on to stage 2 which was held at the ‘Ranch’ in the Aromas (California) where the very first CrossFit games back in 2008 were held. In Aromas another 12 events spread over 3 days were awaiting the athletes.
The scores of stage 1 were set back to zero so anything could happen. But did it?
During the Stage 2 the athletes had to face a total of 12 events, spread over 3 days

And again the 2019 champs, Tia Toomey and Matt Fraser left no doubt and demolished the workouts, leaving their fellow competitors far behind. Tia had 9 event wins, 2 x 3rd places and 1x 5th place, while Matt won 10 of the 12 events and came in 2nd in 2 other events. Tia has now won the games 4 times in a row, while Matt won it 5 times in a row.
